This one - definitely my favourite. It's just so shiny!

I’ve been very busy shooting weddings, portraits, engagements and more over the past few months so I haven’t had much of a chance to get out and shoot some landscape stuff. I was driving home today and the sky looked incredible, so as soon as I got back I grabbed my camera and went straight back out again!

I had past a couple of locations on my way home and decided to head straight for the closest one. When I arrived it was drizzling a bit, not too nice but hardly a problem so I grabbed my coat and got walking to the spot I’d seen earlier. I crossed over the road, walked through some woods and came upon a lovely scene. I took a few mediocre photos and walked further into the forest. All of a sudden it started to pour down with rain, luckily I was sheltered by the trees so I wasn’t getting too wet. I shot some more and decided to clamber through a hedgerow into a nearby field.

Whilst in the field the rain was getting heavier and heavier, I was getting soaked. I quickly moved back into my shelter under the trees and hoped for a break in the rain.

I didn’t get that break! I made my way back through the woods and crossed the road to my car, my hair dripping wet and my shorts clinging to my legs.

Anyway, it was worth it.. These images rock

I’ve been pretty busy with photo shoots recently and I still have some editing to do, so I sat down after dinner to finish off my last shoot and upload it to the blog. I realised I hadn’t shot any personal work in a while and checked outside to see what the weather was like. Every time I’ve wanted to get out and take some photos recently its been raining! I decided to put my editing on hold as it isn’t weather dependant and go for a little drive.

We visited Aldenham Country Park near Elstree this weekend. We were going for a picnic but I also wanted to be sneaky and scout the location for a fast approaching pre-wedding photo shoot. It was way less interesting there than I had expected (I imagined it would be super amazing!) but still pretty cool.

We got totally lost on the way due to a total lack of road signs and ended up in a really beautiful local village called Letchmore Heath, I’m going to have to return at some point and take some photos there too!

I took these at a local forest that I drive past every time I go up to Milton Keynes. I’d been wanting to check it out for a while; I think it would make a great location for a portrait/engagement shoot.

I was just driving past this field and the red houses in the distance really caught my eye, so I stopped at the side of the road and wandered over to the hedgerow to have a look. I really love layering elements, it’s something I’ve been concentrating on with my photography recently.

It was a lovely warm weekend so I ended up shooting quite a bit of landscape and nature stuff. I even tried my hand at some time lapse photography (results to come later.)

This is the first of two photo posts from this weekend. I’ve grouped them into macros, then landscapes and finally a short time lapse video.

I shot all of the images in this post and the next post with what I like to call my “creative” lenses,  a 20 year old(ish) macro lens and a lensbaby manual tilt shift lens. They’re a little different from my main lenses that I use for weddings & portraits but always come out with funky results.

For some reason I’m posting things in reverse order at the moment. The previous post had images shot after this one and my next post includes images from a couple of weeks ago.

I was on the way back from Costco when I noticed some Lambs in a field and made a mental note to pop back later with the camera. These are the results.. No you can’t see the Lambs (never mind!)

Well this is my last post for 2009, it’s been almost 6 weeks since my last PhotoBlog post. I’m planning on making a few changes to the site over the coming months including some changes to the PhotoBlog. It’s changed so much already just in the last year.

I like to be able to tell a story with my images which is why I’ve been posting far less than I was in the beginning. Over the past few months the content has evolved from being random photographs I have taken just to put on here into a place where I can share photos from events that I’ve attended and places I’ve visited.

The photos in this post aren’t here to tell much of a story, I just saw some incredible light in the sky and I had to grab a couple of shots to share.

This is the last post in the Gozo series. We’re back in Malta after this one! I’m about half way through the Malta photos now, I’m working on some way of collecting them all together in order and organising them as a story.

This post contains probably my favourite photos from Gozo. I really enjoyed the boat trip, Kerry wasn’t too sure to start with but she changed her mind when pretty much everyone else on the excursion went for it! Luckily the sea was super amazingly calm – like floating on a pond so we didn’t get drenched

Gozo is a truly beautiful island, I’m certain that it’s slightly hotter than Malta; when we were there it was boiling. I’m pretty sure we’ll go back one day.

We spontaneously decided to visit Stratford-Upon-Avon this weekend. I was hoping it wouldn’t be too much of a long journey but it took twice as long as it should have, we got stuck in traffic on the way into Stratford as there was a Food & Drinks Festival which we had no idea about!

I only took my 50mm lens so I had to move around to get the framing right on each photo. I love the photo of the ice cream shop/narrow boat, somehow managed to catch a seagull in mid flight – it really was a great example of “The Decisive Moment”.
