On the road between Harpenden and St Albans

Every year a volunteer charity organisation called SACA organise a bike ride between Birmingham and London, the ride spans across two days pausing for breath in Luton.

My good friend Gurdev was the official photographer this year so I thought I’d join him for part of the ride to watch him at work (and grab a few shots for myself!)

This is my first attempt at something I want to become awesome at! I’ve not had a lot of experience shooting fast moving subjects and certainly not whilst trying to light them with flash. I was hoping that the flash would freeze the subject within the frame but as I could only sync at up to 200/s I ended up with some motion blur. Next time I’ll have to overcome this with panning, which I definitely need to practise!

This is a step in a different direction, definitely not Weddings or Portraits, this is a personal project.

I’m not a football fan in the slightest but as I was on my way home I noticed that the floodlights were on at my local ground and decided to take a diversion. Nothing too exciting was happening, just a training session. Still, I haven’t shot a lot of sport so I took the opportunity to get some practise!
