Well this is my last post for 2009, it’s been almost 6 weeks since my last PhotoBlog post. I’m planning on making a few changes to the site over the coming months including some changes to the PhotoBlog. It’s changed so much already just in the last year.

I like to be able to tell a story with my images which is why I’ve been posting far less than I was in the beginning. Over the past few months the content has evolved from being random photographs I have taken just to put on here into a place where I can share photos from events that I’ve attended and places I’ve visited.

The photos in this post aren’t here to tell much of a story, I just saw some incredible light in the sky and I had to grab a couple of shots to share.

This is probably my favourite tree (not sure if that’s a strange thing to have?!) I’ve shot it a few times before the most popular image of it is here on flickr. The third shot is a view of the field that the tree stands in, it has a wonderful brown texture with a smooth gradient from light to dark.

More of my good old 50mm f1.4 here, definitely my favourite lens. I’ve shot an entire wedding with one of these before and ended up with nothing but fantastic images. It’s a little more difficult on a full frame camera as the depth of field can be even more shallow when wide open (relative to the same image from a crop sensor) so I find it slightly harder to use at F1.4. These shots were both taken with the lens wide open, so we have lovely background blur for all to enjoy!

Welcome to the last instalment in this landscapes series. I hope you’ve enjoyed it! The top image here is my favourite of the series. These two images were shot at Barton Hills National Nature Reserve – Barton le clay. There were a couple of rejects from this series that you can view on my flickr.
